Original UK Zoo Magazine, Issue 271, dated 15–21 May 2009, with Gemma Atkinson taking the main cover position and featuring prominently inside in an extensive glamour photoshoot.

This is a strong late-2000s Zoo issue combining celebrity and glamour photography with football, comedy, entertainment, current affairs and men's lifestyle features. It has particularly good collector appeal for fans of Gemma Atkinson, India Reynolds, Manchester United/Sir Alex Ferguson memorabilia and 2000s British lads magazines.

Gemma Atkinson Cover & Feature

Gemma Atkinson is the principal cover star, appearing in a large lingerie photograph with the cover promoting exclusive new pictures.

Inside is a substantial double-page feature headed “Gemma's Sexiest Ever Shoot!”, featuring large-format lingerie photography of Gemma. The feature is promoted as containing previously unseen images, making this one of the central attractions of the issue.

Gemma is also prominently referenced in the contents under the girls section.

India Reynolds

The issue also features India Reynolds, promoted on the cover as making her Zoo debut.

Inside she receives a dedicated “Zoo Babe of the Week” feature, with a full-page glamour photograph and accompanying introduction. The contents identify her as a featured model in this issue.

Other Models & Glamour Content

Additional model/glamour material visible in the magazine includes features involving:

  • Gemma Atkinson
  • India Reynolds
  • Katie-Marie
  • Other British glamour and celebrity models
  • A “Hottest Brit Real Girls” feature
  • Celebrity/glamour news and photography

The magazine contains adult-oriented glamour photography typical of Zoo's editorial style during this period.

Sir Alex Ferguson / Football Content

A particularly interesting feature for football collectors is the prominent Sir Alex Ferguson content.

The cover advertises an exclusive interview, while the contents show Ferguson alongside football coverage involving:

  • José Mourinho
  • Arsène Wenger
  • Manchester United
  • Chelsea
  • Premier League discussion
  • Graham Poll
  • Didier Drogba
  • Frankie Gavin
  • Ricky Hatton
  • Football and general sporting statistics

This was published during a major period in Manchester United's 2008–09 season, giving the issue additional period football interest.

Danny Dyer

Danny Dyer is promoted across the top of the cover and appears in the contents with a new Zoo column. The magazine describes his feature alongside celebrity and football personalities including Didier Drogba and Gordon Brown.

Sacha Baron Cohen / Comedy

The cover promotes Ali G, Borat and Brüno, while the contents include a feature on Sacha Baron Cohen's best-known comedy characters and gags.

This provides another strong piece of late-2000s entertainment memorabilia within the issue.

Other Features

Other visible editorial material includes:

  • Jack Black
  • Little Britain – Lucas & Walliams
  • Dizzee Rascal
  • Somali pirates feature
  • British troops training for Afghanistan
  • Entertainment news
  • TV guide
  • Gadgets
  • Style & grooming
  • Reader letters
  • Humour and unusual news stories
  • Sports features and statistics

Overall, this is a very typical and content-heavy example of Zoo from its peak circulation era, mixing glamour, celebrity culture, football, comedy and topical features.
