Description

Original Practical Classics magazine dated April 2025, produced as a substantial Special Bumper Anniversary Issue celebrating:

45 Years of Practical Classics

The entire cover has been designed as a retrospective collage using reproductions of numerous historic Practical Classics front covers from across the magazine's long publishing history.

The central anniversary message reads:

“45 Years”

“Celebrating the drives, the cars, the people and the legends!”

This makes the issue particularly interesting for long-term Practical Classics readers, motoring-magazine collectors and enthusiasts interested in how the classic-car scene has evolved over several decades.

Anniversary Cover

Rather than concentrating on one individual vehicle, the cover acts almost like a miniature visual history of the magazine.

Dozens of earlier Practical Classics covers are reproduced around the large central 45 Years graphic, showing a wide assortment of British, European and enthusiast classics.

Cars visible across the historic cover montage include examples associated with marques and model families such as:

MGB
Triumph Stag
Mini
Austin models
Rover
Range Rover
Jaguar
and numerous other saloons, sports cars and everyday classics.

The collage is a particularly nice feature for collectors because it shows changing Practical Classics cover designs, typography, photography and featured vehicles from different eras.

Special Bumper Anniversary Issue

The cover clearly identifies this as a:

SPECIAL BUMPER ANNIVERSARY ISSUE

The magazine is therefore positioned as more than a standard monthly edition, with the main theme centred on the publication's 45-year history.

The wording promises a celebration of:

the drives
the cars
the people
the legends

suggesting a retrospective look at memorable vehicles, projects, personalities and stories from the magazine's history.

Classic Cars Featured

The historic covers reproduced on the front show an especially broad cross-section of classic motoring.

Visible themes include British sports cars, family saloons, restoration projects, buying guides and significant enthusiast models.

Among the more recognisable cars and marques represented on the cover are:

MGB – visible on one of the reproduced historic covers.

Triumph Stag – represented amongst the magazine's past feature issues.

Mini – another key British classic referenced among the historic editions.

Austin / BMC-era classics – several period British cars appear throughout the collage.

Rover and Range Rover – historic Rover-related issues are also visible.

There are additionally numerous sports cars, convertibles, saloons and restoration subjects distributed around the anniversary artwork.

Workshop Guides

The upper-right of the cover contains a dedicated Workshop Guides panel highlighting practical maintenance subjects.

Visible topics include:

Wake your stored classic
Revive all your glass
Sort classic braking faults
Replace Hydragas units
Assess your new project

These features reinforce the magazine's traditional hands-on focus on classic-car maintenance, restoration and ownership.

Collector Appeal

This issue has particularly strong appeal for:

Practical Classics collectors
classic-car magazine collectors
British classic-car enthusiasts
restoration enthusiasts
MGB collectors
Triumph enthusiasts
Mini enthusiasts
Rover enthusiasts
and readers interested in the history of the UK classic-car hobby.

The anniversary collage also makes this an attractive issue to keep alongside earlier Practical Classics magazines, as it visually references many previous editions.
