Original NME Magazine dated 21 September 1996, with Oasis as the main front-cover story and Noel Gallagher prominently featured.
The main cover headline reads:
“OASIS QUIT AMERICAN TOUR”
with the subheading:
“Noel walks out in anger”
The cover image shows Noel Gallagher in a candid black-and-white photograph, making this a particularly strong period issue for collectors of Oasis, Noel Gallagher, Britpop and 1990s NME memorabilia.
The front cover also promotes a feature on Kula Shaker, alongside a substantial range of other contemporary artists and music personalities, including:
- Chris Evans
- Manic Street Preachers
- Polly Harvey / PJ Harvey
- Billy Bragg
- Skunk Anansie
- Supergrass
- Def Leppard
- Gallon Drunk
- Moby
The supplied interior image confirms that the Oasis story is a major news feature. The page is headed:
“Noel’s wonderwalk-out”
and covers Noel Gallagher leaving Oasis during the band’s American tour, including discussion of cancelled dates and the uncertainty surrounding the group at the time.
The page contains two photographs connected to the story, including a large image of Noel being escorted through a crowd and another photograph showing Noel and Liam Gallagher arriving separately in London.
This is a particularly interesting period issue because it captures one of the more turbulent moments in Oasis history during 1996, when tensions surrounding the American tour became major music news.
The issue also advertises a free student guide on the front cover, although the supplied photographs do not clearly confirm whether that original extra is still present, so it should not be assumed to be included.

Condition
Pre-owned vintage condition with visible age-related handling and storage wear.
The front cover shows general creasing, wrinkling and surface rippling, particularly around the outer borders and lower section. There are visible horizontal and vertical handling lines through the paper, consistent with the thin newsprint-style material.
The left-hand edge/spine area shows noticeable handling wear and compression, with some small creases and light edge roughness.
The right-hand edge is visibly uneven and slightly wavy, with age-related wear and some light fraying to the paper edge.
The corners show softening and bending. The lower corners have visible handling wear, while the bottom edge is slightly uneven with some light curling.
There is also age-related toning/discolouration to the pale paper margins, particularly around the edges.
The supplied interior image shows additional light creasing, waviness and age toning, especially around the outer margins. The printed photographs and text remain clearly visible and readable.
No obvious heavy staining, large tears or writing are visible in the supplied photographs. Condition assessment is based only on the two images provided, so areas and pages not shown cannot be fully assessed.
