Original Melody Maker Magazine dated 13 September 1997, with No Doubt as the main front-cover feature and Gwen Stefani prominently pictured.
The cover uses a large central portrait of Gwen Stefani with the headline:
“Given behaving badly! NO DOUBT”
and the subheading:
“Definitely mayhem in The Big Apple”
This gives the issue strong appeal for collectors of No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, 1990s alternative rock and Melody Maker memorabilia.
The cover also promotes several major contemporary music stories:
- Radiohead – live in New York
- Oasis – feature referencing the band and Be Here Now era activity
- Travis – New York / Central Park-related feature
- Pulp – single details
- Dubstar – review the singles
- Chumbawamba
- Morrissey
- Frank Skinner
- Monaco
- Coldcut
- Cornershop
- Bloodhound Gang
- Veruca Salt
The overall cover gives a very strong snapshot of the late-1990s alternative, Britpop, indie and pop-rock scene, with No Doubt and Gwen Stefani taking the main position and a substantial mix of UK and US acts supporting the issue.

Condition
Pre-owned vintage condition with visible age-related handling and storage wear.
The front cover shows light to moderate creasing, surface waviness and general handling wear, particularly around the outer margins and lower section.
The left-hand edge/spine area shows some compression and minor creasing from use.
The right-hand edge appears slightly uneven and wavy, with some light roughness consistent with the thin paper stock.
The bottom edge shows a few visible bends and small creases, including a more noticeable crease around the lower central area.
The corners are softened from handling and storage, with mild bending visible.
There is some age-related toning/discolouration to the pale outer border areas, together with minor marks and general surface wear.
The main cover image and printed text remain clear and readable.
No obvious major large tears, heavy staining or writing can be seen in the supplied photograph.
Condition assessment is based on the single supplied image, so the interior pages and back cover cannot be fully assessed.
