Original Max Power Magazine – January 1999, a substantial late-1990s UK modified-car and tuning issue packed with period performance cars, styling, ICE/audio, motorsport and modified-car culture.

The main cover feature is a striking blue Ford Escort RS Cosworth Cabriolet/4x4 Cosworth, promoted as the “World’s First Cabrio 4x4 Cossie.” The cover also highlights a 200mph A1 feature, affordable subwoofer testing and styling products.

This issue gives a particularly strong snapshot of the late-1990s Max Power scene, with modified hatchbacks, performance cars, show cars, ICE installations, cruises and the type of extreme styling associated with the magazine at the time.

Featured cars and automotive content visible inside include:

  • Ford Escort RS Cosworth Cabriolet – unusual one-off convertible Cosworth feature
  • Toyota Supra – high-speed/200mph A1 feature
  • Vauxhall Astra 16V Mk2
  • Peugeot 205 GTI
  • Vauxhall Corsa
  • BMW M3 ICE Car
  • Peugeot 106 GTI
  • Renault 5 GT Turbo
  • Honda Prelude
  • Ford Fiesta / XR2i-based modified car

  • F1 feature
  • Cruise Patrol / modified-car meet coverage
  • Reader and staff modified cars
  • Subwoofer testing and ICE/audio equipment
  • Styling and performance information

The contents pages show the magazine covering the Escort Cosworth Cabriolet from page 6, Astra Mk2 from page 20, Peugeot 205 GTI from page 40, Vauxhall Corsa from page 50, BMW M3 ICE car from page 54, Peugeot 106 GTI from page 68, Fiesta feature from page 72, Supra feature from page 74, Renault 5 GT Turbo from page 80, Honda Prelude from page 86 and the 1800cc XR2i from page 96.

There is also a typical Max Power lifestyle feature titled “Girls: What Really Turns ’Em On?”, along with cruise coverage, reader cars, entertainment, Motor Show ’98, motorsport and audio sections. This is a very period-specific issue for collectors of 1990s Max Power, modified cars, Ford Cosworth, hot hatches, tuning, ICE and UK car culture memorabilia.

Condition

Pre-owned vintage magazine in used condition.

From the photographs, there is visible age and handling wear including light rubbing/scuffing to the covers, some edge and corner wear, slight creasing and general surface marks. The spine shows some normal handling wear consistent with a magazine of this age.

The front cover remains bright and presentable, with the main artwork and text clearly visible. The rear cover also shows light age-related handling marks. Internally, the photographed pages remain colourful and readable, with the glossy pages appearing generally well preserved.

There may be further minor age-related marks, small creases or handling wear throughout which are not individually visible in every photograph. Please study all supplied images carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
