Large double-sided Max Power magazine fold-out poster featuring a dramatic nighttime performance-car photograph on one side and a colourful collection of late-1990s Max Power magazine covers on the reverse.
This is a particularly interesting piece of British modified-car memorabilia, combining atmospheric street-racing photography with a visual celebration of the magazine's distinctive 1990s tuning culture.
Side 1 – Nighttime Performance Car / Street Racing
The main side features a dramatic nighttime photograph of a modified performance car surrounded by a large cloud of tyre smoke.
The vehicle is captured on a road or bridge illuminated by rows of orange streetlights, giving the photograph a cinematic, late-night street-racing atmosphere.
The car is positioned towards the lower-left section of the image, with its headlights illuminated and a substantial cloud of yellow/orange smoke spreading behind it.
The exact make and model of the vehicle cannot be confidently established from the photograph.
Visible features include:
-
Low, modified performance-car appearance.
-
Bright illuminated headlights.
-
Dark-coloured bodywork with lighter reflections.
-
Large cloud of tyre smoke.
-
Nighttime road setting.
-
Long rows of streetlights extending into the distance.
-
Road markings and barriers.
-
Strong orange, yellow and black colour palette.
The photograph creates a sense of speed and movement, capturing the high-energy automotive imagery associated with Max Power during the late 1990s.
Promotional Text
Across the upper portion is a distinctive line of digital-style lettering reading approximately:
“194mph... 9800rpm... A1... 4.30am...”
The wording reinforces the theme of high-speed motoring, high engine revs and late-night driving.
The text is presented in a thin, futuristic white typeface, resembling a digital dashboard display.
A small red-and-white MAX POWER logo appears in the lower-right corner.
The relatively minimal design allows the dramatic car photograph and smoke effects to dominate the poster.
Side 2 – Max Power Magazine Cover Collage
The reverse features an extensive, colourful montage of Max Power magazine covers, arranged around a large central cover.
The design has a dark blue background and numerous miniature magazine covers forming a decorative border.
These small covers show a wide variety of modified cars, custom body kits, performance vehicles, alloy wheels and brightly coloured automotive photography.
The collage provides an interesting visual record of the magazine's late-1990s editorial style.
Main Featured Magazine Cover – May 1998
The centre prominently features a Max Power magazine cover dated May 1998.
The cover carries the familiar oversized yellow MAX POWER masthead, with the wording:
“Britain's best-selling tuning, styling and ICE magazine”
The principal cover feature is:
“750BHP SUPRA BLITZES LONDON”
This refers to a heavily modified Toyota Supra featured in the magazine.
The cover photograph shows a striking performance car photographed at night against an illuminated London backdrop, with the Houses of Parliament visible in the background.
The image uses dramatic lighting and motion effects, with the car dominating the foreground.
Other visible cover headlines include:
-
“LAW BREAKING, HARD DRIVING, STREET RACING, ICE POUNDING, COOL STYLING, MAX POWER.”
-
“Ultimate Golf Test”
-
“Bristol Cruise”
-
“Drive Faster Today”
The cover also features additional modified-car photographs, including blue performance vehicles and other brightly coloured cars.
Surrounding Magazine Cover Gallery
The border contains numerous smaller reproductions of Max Power covers.
These include a mixture of:
-
Modified Japanese performance cars.
-
Customised European hatchbacks.
-
Sports coupes.
-
Brightly coloured show cars.
-
Lowered vehicles.
-
Performance-car photography.
-
Magazine cover headlines and promotional graphics.
The arrangement gives the reverse an almost scrapbook-style appearance, celebrating the magazine's automotive photography and design.
The covers are printed as part of the poster artwork; they are not separate magazines included with the item.
Collectability
This poster is particularly relevant to enthusiasts of the British modified-car scene of the 1990s.
Max Power was closely associated with performance tuning, custom bodywork, aftermarket alloy wheels, in-car entertainment systems, street cruises and modified-car shows.
The two-sided format makes this an interesting collectible, offering both a dramatic automotive display image and a colourful magazine-cover montage.
It would appeal to collectors of Max Power memorabilia, Toyota Supra tuning culture, 1990s performance cars, classic British car magazines and modified-car artwork.

Condition
Pre-owned condition with noticeable folding, creasing and general handling/storage wear.
Both sides have been examined using the two supplied photographs.
Fold Lines and Creasing
The poster has a prominent vertical centre fold running through the artwork, together with a horizontal fold crossing the sheet.
These divide the poster into four main sections.
On the nighttime driving side, the vertical fold runs through the smoke cloud and road scene.
The horizontal fold crosses the vehicle photograph and illuminated background.
Both folds remain clearly visible, particularly where the paper catches the light.
The centre intersection shows some creasing and paper stress consistent with previous folding.
On the magazine-cover collage side, the same fold lines run through the central magazine cover and the surrounding miniature cover designs.
The horizontal fold is especially noticeable across the main Toyota Supra photograph.
Edges and Corners
The outer edges show general handling and storage wear.
The upper edge has slight waviness, particularly around the central fold.
The left-hand edge shows some unevenness and minor creasing near the horizontal fold.
The right-hand edge has slight curling and minor wear.
The corners appear generally intact but show some softening and minor bending rather than remaining perfectly sharp.
Surface Wear
The nighttime driving side shows some light creasing and surface impressions across the darker printed areas.
The black background makes several fold lines and handling marks more noticeable.
There are slight ripples in the paper around the centre and along the horizontal fold.
The reverse magazine-cover collage has similar fold-related wear, including small creases and slight unevenness through the blue border.
Some minor surface marks are visible, although the busy printed design makes small imperfections difficult to distinguish.
Tears and Damage
No obvious major tear or large missing section is visible in the supplied photographs.
The central fold intersection shows some wear, but there is no clearly confirmed extensive splitting.
No obvious handwritten markings, tape repairs or substantial staining can be identified.
Colour and Presentation
The printed colours remain visually strong.
The nighttime side retains its atmospheric orange/yellow lighting and dark background.
The reverse retains its colourful magazine-cover designs, with the yellow Max Power masthead and bright vehicle photographs clearly visible.
The poster remains visually appealing when opened, although the folds are noticeable.
Overall Condition: A complete-looking vintage Max Power fold-out poster with prominent original fold lines, minor creasing, slight edge and corner wear, and general handling/storage marks.
Please examine both supplied photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
