Original Guitar World Guitar Buyer’s Guide 1998–99, produced from the editors of Guitar World. This is a substantial specialist buyer’s guide devoted to guitars, amplification, effects, accessories and related equipment, with the cover advertising over 3,000 products and photographs.
The magazine is aimed squarely at guitar players, collectors and musicians researching late-1990s equipment, making it a particularly interesting period reference for the guitar market of the era.
The striking front cover features a model holding a red Gretsch hollow-body electric guitar, with the publication describing itself as “The World’s Best-Selling Guitar Buyer’s Guide.”
Main Sections
The contents divide the guide into major equipment categories, including:
-

Original Pin-Up Centerfold – PRESENT
The front cover specifically advertises a “Bonus! Pin-Up Centerfold!!”, and this feature is clearly present in the supplied photographs.
The attached fold-out centre section uses a bright yellow background and features a blonde model posing alongside guitar equipment. One side shows her with a distinctive angular Flying V-style guitar and small combo amplifier, while the opposite spread shows her holding a large red Gretsch hollow-body guitar, matching the guitar used on the front cover.
The imagery is very much in the colourful late-1990s Guitar World promotional style and makes this copy more interesting than examples where the original centre section has been removed.
The centre feature shown in the photographs is included with this magazine.
