Original FHM Magazine – May 2003, a particularly collectable early Girls Aloud issue featuring the newly formed group in a major cover story and extensive glamour photo feature.
This dates from the very early period of Girls Aloud’s career, following their formation on Popstars: The Rivals, making it a strong piece of early-2000s British pop memorabilia.
The photographs supplied show Cheryl Tweedy, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh together, with individual names printed alongside members in the feature.
⭐ GIRLS ALOUD – MAJOR COVER FEATURE
The principal attraction is the substantial Girls Aloud feature, advertised prominently across the front:
“GIRLS ALOUD! All five in their sexiest ever shoot…”
Inside, the magazine contains a striking large-format multi-page Girls Aloud photographic spread, with members individually identified.
Visible members include:
- Cheryl Tweedy
- Sarah Harding
- Nicola Roberts
- Nadine Coyle
- Kimberley Walsh
For Girls Aloud collectors, this is particularly appealing because it comes from 2003, right at the beginning of the group’s career, rather than from their later established period.
The contents page confirms the Girls Aloud cover story begins around page 78.
⭐ OTHER FAMOUS NAMES & FEATURES
There is much more celebrity and entertainment content inside this May 2003 issue.
The photographed contents show features involving:
Imogen Bailey – substantial photographed feature beginning around page 113.
Shaggy – listed as a major feature beginning around page 76.
The Matrix – prominent feature relating to the hugely successful film franchise and its sequels.
Krista Allen – photographed feature later in the magazine.
Alan Smith – Leeds United footballer feature.
The issue therefore has crossover interest for collectors of Girls Aloud, British pop music, film, celebrity culture and early-2000s men’s magazines.

FRONT COVER
The front cover remains bright and attractive, with the Girls Aloud cover photography displaying extremely well.
Visible age-related wear includes:
- General surface rubbing and light scratches
- Small handling marks
- Edge wear
- Spine-edge rubbing
- Slight corner wear
- Mild creasing
- Some natural curvature/waviness to the magazine
- Minor wear around the lower corners
- Slight wear around the upper edges
- Small age/storage marks visible against the darker areas
Despite this, the cover image, FHM masthead, May 2003 date and principal Girls Aloud text remain clear.
GIRLS ALOUD INTERNAL FEATURE
A particularly strong aspect of this copy is the large Girls Aloud photographic section shown in the supplied photographs.
The spread remains colourful, glossy and highly presentable, featuring the members across a wide multi-page layout.
There is natural curvature where the magazine has been opened for photography, together with typical handling wear expected from a magazine of this age, but the imagery itself displays very well.
INTERNAL PAGES
The photographed interior pages appear generally:
- Bright
- Clean
- Clearly readable
- Strong in colour
- Securely bound
Some pages show light edge/corner curling and normal handling wear, but there is no obvious major internal damage visible in the supplied photographs.
The contents pages and celebrity photography remain particularly presentable.
SPINE / BINDING
The spine appears intact and the magazine remains together properly.
There is visible rubbing and ordinary age-related wear along the spine, particularly near the extremities, but no major separation is apparent from the supplied photographs.
REAR COVER
The rear features a full-page Giorgio Armani / Armani Mania advertisement.
It remains attractive and displayable, with:
- Light surface wear
- Minor scratches/rubbing
- Edge wear
- Slight corner wear
- Some natural curvature from storage
Overall this is best considered a good vintage collector/reading copy rather than a mint example.
Please study all supplied photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description and show the exact magazine being sold.
POSTAGE & PACKAGING
The magazine will be carefully protected for dispatch, with particular attention paid to the spine, corners, covers and large internal pages.
Depending on the final parcel size, it will be securely packed using protective cardboard and/or bubble wrap to help prevent bending, crushing and movement during transit.
The magazine will then be placed inside suitable strong outer packaging so it is not simply sent loose in a mailing bag, helping preserve its existing condition as much as reasonably possible during delivery.
