Original The Best of Mayfair – Special Collector’s Edition, issued as a Volume 16 Supplement and priced at £1.25.
This is a substantial retrospective-style Mayfair special bringing together a selection of the magazine’s photography, illustrated features, humour, fiction, motoring and archive material. The front cover specifically advertises:
“Our most beautiful girls – including Bardot – finest features and funniest cartoons in one superb issue.”
The cover has a distinctive pink/red design with a blonde model pictured carrying bound Mayfair volumes, giving it a very recognisable vintage collector’s-edition appearance.

I cannot clearly see a separate poster in the supplied photographs, so I would not advertise this copy as including a poster.
Condition
This is a pre-owned vintage collector’s magazine with quite noticeable age and storage wear.
From the supplied photographs:
- front cover has extensive surface rubbing and scuffing
- numerous fine scratches, handling marks and surface abrasions are visible across the pink cover
- noticeable creasing, including diagonal and vertical creases
- significant spine wear, with rubbing and whitening along the fold
- upper-left spine/corner area shows compression and wear
- top edge has visible creasing and small bends
- top-right corner is noticeably bent/creased
- bottom-left corner has heavier rubbing and edge wear
- bottom edge shows general shelf wear and some waviness
- cover remains attached in the photographed areas
- interior contents page appears generally clean and readable
- page edges show age-related wear
- rear cover has visible marks, rubbing, scratches and general soiling/discolouration
- rear corners and edges show wear and minor bending
- spine and lower edge show additional rubbing when viewed from the rear
- magazine appears to retain a reasonable overall shape despite the cosmetic wear
Overall this should be regarded as a well-used vintage copy rather than a high-grade example. The wear is quite evident, particularly to the outer covers and spine, but the magazine remains an appealing original collector’s edition with a substantial amount of period material inside.
Please study all supplied photographs carefully, as they show the actual copy being sold and form an important part of the condition description.
Postage & Packaging
The magazine will be packed carefully for dispatch. Depending on the finished parcel size, it will be protected using a sturdy cardboard box and/or suitable bubble wrap, with extra attention given to the spine, corners, cover edges and overall structure to help reduce the risk of bending, crushing or impact damage during transit.
