Collection: FLEX Magazine
FLEX Magazine was the undisputed "Bible of Hardcore Bodybuilding." Launched in 1983 by the legendary Joe Weider, it was created as a more intense, specialized alternative to his mainstream title, Muscle & Fitness. While other magazines focused on general health, FLEX was strictly dedicated to the elite world of professional bodybuilding and the pursuit of extreme muscularity.
For over 35 years, FLEX was the primary source for "insider" access to the IFBB Pro League and the Mr. Olympia stage. It became famous for its technical depth and its unapologetic focus on the "freaky" size and aesthetics of the sport's biggest stars.
Each issue featured:
-
The Voice of Champions: Exclusive training columns written by legends like Lee Haney, Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman, and Jay Cutler.
-
Hardcore Blueprints: Brutal, high-volume workout routines designed for advanced lifters.
-
Contest Coverage: The most detailed reports and high-production-value photography from the Mr. Olympia and Arnold Classic.
-
Weider Principles: In-depth applications of Joe Weider’s famous training systems applied to modern pro physiques.
In May 2018, the print edition of FLEX officially ceased as a standalone publication, merging with Muscle & Fitness to become a dedicated "magazine within a magazine." Today, original vintage copies—especially the premier April 1983 issue featuring Chris Dickerson—are some of the most sought-after items for bodybuilding collectors worldwide.
